Bay Area sports reporter Tim Kawakami was granted access to a Warriors pregame warm up session so that he could witness how Steph Curry prepares for action.
As it turns out, Curry is able to get a breathtaking amount of work done in a twenty minute pregame warm up. There’s dribbling with both hands to start, so that Steph can get a feel for the ball. From there, Steph works on his scoop shots and runners before he starts practicing his bread and butter 3-point shot.
Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of focus on three pointers.
After that, Curry works on some one-on-one drills to simulate some in-game play and then it’s back to the locker room (but not before signing autographs for fans).
The most amazing thing about Steph’s pregame routine is the sheer amount of work that he’s able to squeeze in such a short amount of time.
Per Kawakami:
Curry put up 182 shots in the session I watched—made 120—and within the structure of his work, you saw the essence of Curry’s offensive game.
To repeat, this all happens in about 20 minutes. That is ridiculous. Try making 120 shots in a half-day, let alone in less time than it takes to watch an episode of The Simpsons.
