A lot of animals reach a point in which euthanasia is a far better option than living in in pain and extreme discomfort but the process is always heartbreaking. The Yarmouth Police Department in southern Maine reminded everyone why this it is so difficult to say goodbye to a good friend.
They were forced to put down Sultan this week, a 13-year-old longtime police dog that had fallen into poor health since his retirement three years ago. His final moments included a bunch of emotional goodbyes from members of the department and an escort to the clinic where he would be euthanized.
