The Islanders and Flyers faced off in Philadelphia last night and, even though New York won 3-2, not every Isle player had a great night. Forward Matt Martin squared up and dropped the gloves with Ryan White just a few minutes into the first period, hoping to provide his team with a spark early in the game.
Martin is no stranger to the fisticuffs – this was his eighth fight of the year – but he probably wishes this one went a little differently. White managed to clock the Islanders winger with a solid right to the face, visibly breaking his nose instantly.
Here’s the damaging blow in slow-motion:
Ouch. This is what Martin looked like heading to locker room immediately following the bout…it’s not pretty.
Fortunately, he underwent repairs and was (almost) back to normal on Friday morning.
Matt might just bail on this whole hobken thing and go be a male model now that his nose is fixed #Isles pic.twitter.com/ZGVjKeXfBF
