Fiesta Bowl CEO John Junker was fired from his post after multiple investigations into political campaign funding violations and overall financial jackassery.
The Fiesta Bowl released a report highlighting violations on reimbursement of campaign contributions, ridiculous compensation for executive salaries and other abuses of the Fiesta Bowl bank account. All types of things you’re not supposed to do, especially when your legal entity is a non-profit.
Junker started as executive director of the Fiesta Bowl in 1990. He became president and CEO in 2000. His been named one of the most powerful people in college football by Sports Illustrated and the Fiesta Bowl grew from bowl game nobody cared about to national prominence under his tutelage.
