At this point, Shane Victorino’s sneakerhead credentials are unquestioned.
So, it’s of no surprise that Victorino was on-hand for Nike’s annual Doernbecher event. The Nike x Doernbecher annual partnership raises money for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital by selling sneakers designed by kids who have been treated at the hospital. And while the collection will be made available to the general public on November 23rd, at last Friday’s Nike x Doernbecher event, each pair (signed by Kevin Durant!) was put up for auction with all proceeds going towards the Doernbecher hospital
Of course, the most anticipated release of the annual Doernbecher collection for sneakerheads is the Air Jordan release. Shane made sure that those shoes would be his by putting forth the winning bid of $12,000 for Caden Lambert’s Air Jordan VIII’s. Spending THAT much on a pair of sneakers is certainly extravagant but considering that the money is going towards Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, it’s definitely money well-spent.
