Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been known to a take a big hit here and there, and Welker received his latest punishing hit against his former team on Sunday. Welker was drilled straight in the back by Devin McCourty after tipping a third quarter pass from Peyton Manning, violently sending his body into an awkward position. Adding insult to injury, Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner was able to pluck the ball out of the air for the interception.
Welker was shaken up on the play but didn’t appear to suffer any significant damage as a result of the hit, which is a relief because it was certainly uncomfortable to watch.
