EA Sports’ NHL 15 hits stores next week but reviews and initial impressions of the game are already starting to come out from those who have been able to get their hands on an early copy. I was impressed with the improvements in gameplay and presentation but one of the most talked about aspects of the game has been the amount of modes and features from previous versions that EA has left out in their next-gen releases this year.

Here’s a full breakdown of what’s NOT in the game this year from someone with early access:

It’s important to note that some of these modes/features (Online Team Play, drafting players in Be A GM) will reportedly be patched in after release, while others (EASHL, GM Connected, Live The Life and more) won’t be included at all. I’ve also seen other people claim that there is a creation zone and you will be able to edit teams and players.

There are certainly some missing features that will make fans of the franchise shake their head (no simming between shifts in ‘Be A Pro’ mode? really?!) so I can see why a lot of people who might have been on the fence won’t be buying this year’s installment.

I’m definitely still going to purchase simply because of the improvements in gameplay (and because I’m a huge hockey fan and a sucker) but even I’ll admit that it sounds like a shell of the game that it could/should be.
