Following his release from the Rams this weekend, Michael Sam hasn’t had any luck signing on with another roster or practice squad just yet. But it’s not all bad news for the rookie defensive end, as he’s been formally invited to appear on WWE’s Monday Night Raw next week:

It’s probably unlikely Sam will branch off from his football pursuits so quickly – especially at the risk of getting injured as a free agent – but it’s cool to see that opportunities are presenting themselves for him in case nobody is willing to give him a shot in the NFL. For what it’s worth, I still think he’s done enough to earn that shot, at least on a practice squad, so I’d be surprised if he wasn’t signed.
Sam is a big dude (6’2, 260 lbs) so I think he’s be quite the formidable opponent in the wrestling ring, if things ever came to that.
