As you can imagine, cameras caught lots of sad Brazilian fans during yesterday’s 7-1 German stomping of the host country in the semi-finals. But arguably no fan was sadder – or at least made us sadder – than this mustachioed elderly guy crying as he cradled the World Cup trophy. I mean…just look at that poor guy, you can clearly see how bad he wanted to see Brazil go all the way.
It was truly a heartbreaking image, but what cameras didn’t capture was how this man’s World Cup experience ended – with him handing the trophy off to a German fan, telling them they deserved it, and wishing them good luck in the final. This according to a Reddit user who snapped a picture of the exchange:
Not only do I have to give this guy credit for being extremely classy and an awesome sport about the devastating loss, I also have to give him credit for finding a nice, attractive German fan to pass along the trophy to. This guy might actually be my hero.
