There have been some notorious rap battles but nothing compares to the hip-hop beefs that have gone down. They stem all the way back to the 90’s, when feuding was part part of the genre. The feuds usually start with subliminal jabs but escalate quickly, friends get involved and fans take sides. While most of these feuds have ended with friendships, others remain a tragedy. Take a look at five hip hop feuds we will never forget.
Ice Cube vs. N.W.A.
After Ice Cube left NWA over royalty disputes, he had written most of their “Straight Outta Compton” album, but wasn’t getting the credit the deserved. NWA signed an awful deal, most of their money was going to their manager Jerry West. Shortly after Ice Cube’s departure, the group released “100 Miles and Runnin”, referring to Ice Cube as Benedict Arnold. This song ignited the flame of the feud and Ice Cube came back with “No Vaseline”. In his song, he single-handedly bashed the group and their manager, destroying their street credibility. Things got serious, Dre attacked a reporter shortly after she interviewed Ice Cube about the beef going on with NWA.
Winner: Ice Cube
