I studied English in college, but there’s one thing my classes severely lacked: Nintendo. Most of my august professors would argue that is a good thing, but I beg to differ. I submit that great American literature can only be improved by regurgitating it into tiny, 8-bit storylines playable online. And, circa 1990, the good old folks at Nintendo thought the same. With no further adieu, we bring to you The Great Gatsby for NES, fully playable online. Guide Nick Carraway through this awesome adventure, chucking his hat at every flapper, drunkard and tommy gun toting criminal in his path. And, try not to shed a tear as you reach the green light, “beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
Check it out Here: The Great Gatsby Game
It’s just too bad the Nintendo developers didn’t have quite the same command of English as F Scott.
[Editors Note: A few blogs covered this last week, but they were mostly video game blogs for nerds and virgins. Regardless, props to BoingBoing, i09 and the rest for unearthing this little gem.]
