For many people, any mention of the infamous Black Sox scandal that marred the 1919 World Series is more likely to conjure up images of Ray Liotta, rather than Shoeless Joe Jackson himself. In other words, there isn’t much footage — good footage — of the real deal. Until now, that is. Recently, someone uncovered a near-one-hundred-years-old news reel of the series, which shows the White Sox in all their series-throwing glory — in stunning, old-timey black and white, with silent film-style intertitles.

The folks at the Society for American Baseball Research provided a nice breakdown of the footage, including an infamous “botched” double play involving three players who would eventually confess to participating in the fix.
