The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Anthony Bennett with the #1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft — a choice that surprised many people (for example: WOAH!), even in a draft with no clear-cut #1 pick. In preseason action, Bennett shows flashes of his potential, averaging 10 points and 6.3 rebounds per game early on. Unfortunately for Mr. Bennett, preseason ended, and the reality of the regular season has set in. His stat line through four games: 0.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.2 bpg; 0.0 apg, 0% FG, 0% 3FG.
No, do not adjust your screen. Bennett is 0-15 from the field, including 0-8 from three-point range, and apparently does not pass the ball to open teammates. In other words: Yikes!
It must be noted that the 6-foot-8, 258-pound Bennett suffers from sleep apnea and asthma, symptoms of which have been noticeable on the court. We just hope it doesn’t lead to more problems down the line for the first #1 overall pick from Canada in NBA history.
