On Monday afternoon, legendary Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce officially announced his retirement in an emotional press conference. And even though the team is fully supportive of his decision to walk away from the game and team he loves so much, it sounds like they are certainly going to miss him.
Following the announcement from Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles team owner Jeff Lurie gave his thoughts on what he called a “bittersweet” occasion, making it clear how strange it’s going to be when the team takes the field without Kelce next season.
“Today is a bittersweet day, because while it is hard to imagine the Eagles taking the field without Jason Kelce in uniform, we are also excited to celebrate his career and support him as his journey continues,” Lurie said. “Although Jason is retiring from the NFL, I have no doubt that he will continue to be successful in everything he does, and his impact on our organization and this city will reverberate for many years to come.”
Kelce is ending an absolutely legendary career with the Eagles, and it’s very clear that they will miss him greatly both on the field and in the locker room.
