It’s certainly been a tough offseason for Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears left his status with the team in a state of limbo as they decided whether to stick with him as their starting quarterback next season or to trade him and select a rookie with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. But it sounds like the team has finally made a decision.

According to a report from NFL Draft analyst and insider Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Chicago Bears have decided to trade Justin Fields and are “close to finalizing” a deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

“Word in Indianapolis is the Chicago Bears are close to finalizing a deal which would send former first-round pick Justin Fields to the Atlanta Falcons,” Pauline wrote for Sportskeeda on Saturday morning.

“It is not known if the deal will be finalized or even announced before the conclusion of the Combine. As I reported on Thursday, if the Falcons can’t come to terms with the Bears for Fields they will turn their attention to Baker Mayfield if he’s available when free agency commences.”

Obviously, this is pretty significant news, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Even if this trade ultimately doesn’t materialize, this report suggests that the team has decided to part ways with Fields.
