Well, this is awkward for all sorts of reasons. Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes got into a physical confrontation with New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher at the home of Gloria Govan – Barnes’ estranged wife. Barnes had filed for a divorce from Govan back in March.
Fisher, who used to be a teammate of Barnes when both were on the Lakers from 2010-12, and Govan have reportedly been dating for the past few months.
On Saturday, Barnes reportedly learned about the relationship between Fisher and Govan according to a report by The New York Post. The Grizzlies forward then drove all the way from Santa Barbara to Govan’s house in Los Angeles.
A source states that Barnes attacked Fisher.
A source close to Fisher confirmed the fight but said, “Matt came after Derek but he only had a few scratches … Derek’s not going to press charges, he’s going to let it go.”
