Sepp Blatter has announced that he will step down as president of FIFA and now John Oliver will have to “put [his] mouth where [his] mouth is” and drink one of Budweiser’s “disgusting” items.
Presciently, on the most recent episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver meticulously reported on the recent FIFA scandal and the air of corruption that the organization has been steeped in under the leadership of Sepp Blatter. Towards the end of the segment, a clearly frustrated Oliver made a few desperate promises that he would fulfill if and when Blatter was removed from office, likely because it seemed inconceivable that Blatter would ever willingly leave his position.
Now that the inconceivable has occurred, let’s take a look at every nasty thing that John Oliver will now likely have to endure on his program for our viewing pleasure (Skip to 11:45 in the above video).
He promised to wear one of adidas’ ugly shoes.
He promised to take a bite out of every item on McDonald’s dollar menu.
Lastly, and most bravely, he promised to drink one of Budweiser’s beers, even a Bud Light Lime that tastes like “a puddle beneath a Long John Silver’s dumpster.”
Last Week Tonight has always been pretty great of doing callbacks to previous episodes and Oliver is a huge soccer fan so it seems like a good bet that he’ll probably go through with each of these. Luckily for Oliver, at least he didn’t promise to eat the entire dollar menu.
