Tom Brady and the Patriots have been punished by the NFL for their role in DeflateGate, and the punishment is not light.
The NFL announced today that Tom Brady will be suspended for four games, the Patriots will lose a 1st round pick in 2016, and the team will also be fined $1,000,000 dollars. Tom Brady however will still be allowed to participate in all offseason, training camp and preseason activities, including preseason games.
According to Gregg Rosenthal who is the “Around the NFL” Editor:
The NFL announced Monday that Tom Brady has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL policy on the integrity of the game. This news comes less than a week after independent investigator Ted Wells found that it was “more probable than not” that Brady was “at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities” regarding the deflation of Patriots game balls used in the AFC Championship Game against the Colts.
The team will also be fined $1 million and will forfeit a 2016 first rounder and 2017 fourth-round selection in the NFL Draft.
The two Patriots employees who were involved have also been suspended.
