Reggie Miller, often regarded as one of the biggest trash talkers in NBA history, visited Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and told the story of the one (and only) time he tried to talk smack to Michael Jordan on the court. Shockingly, it didn’t go so well.
Reggie told Jimmy that, during his rookie year, he went head-to-head with MJ in a meaningless exhibition game and actually outperformed him in the first half. This gave the Pacers guard a lot of confidence, enough to spit some trash talk at Jordan.
Bad idea.
Jordan came out and dropped 40+ while playing lockdown defense in the second half, presumably just to prove a point. That point? Don’t mess with “Black Jesus.”
Reggie clearly learned his lesson, as he said he never trashed Jordan again.
