Despite repeated claims from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that the league is not in an expansion phase, stakeholders in Las Vegas continue to move forward with plans to bring a hockey team to Sin City.
Bettman attended a news conference on Tuesday that launched an exploratory ticket drive, one that will have fans commit to purchasing tickets in the event that an NHL does come to town, but continued to stress that the league is making no promises and expansion is far from a done deal.
We’ve seen different levels of optimism and various reports for expansion over much of the last decade but things appear to be reaching serious levels of intrigue. After brainstorming what a good team name would be for an NHL franchise in Seattle last month, here are some potential (some more likely than others) recommendations for a future Vegas team.
