The Run The Jewels remix album, Meow The Jewels, has been fully funded is actually happening! Now that this album is going to become a reality, there needs to be talent… cats.
One half of Run The Jewels, El-P, went to a Brooklyn animal shelter in hopes of finding cats to be featured on the album. Things didn’t turn out so great for El. Maybe the cats don’t like hip-hop, maybe they weren’t prepared for their surprise audition or maybe they would have preferred Killer Mike be there to audition them. It could have been a number of things but El-P is determined to find the right cats for this groundbreaking album.
The Meow The Jewels Kickstarter page has raised almost $60,000 with a few days left to donate. RTJ2 arrives October 28 and features Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha, Travis Barker, and many more. Listen to the de la Rocha featuring “Close Your Eyes” below:
