The Chinese Basketball Association appears to have become a safe haven for washed up NBA headcases and characters — one of whom is Metta World Peace, the former Defensive Player of the Year and NBA champion who made his debut with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association over the weekend. The game also marked the debut of Metta’s signature panda shoe (which don’t really look like pandas, but that’s beside the point here). Metta rocked the shoes, which features a removable panda/generic bear head decal, for twelve minutes of game action, in which he scored 19 points. Not bad for a guy wearing teddy bears on his feet.
