Bob Costas was invited to throw out the first pitch before the Cardinals game in St. Louis last night, but he ended up throwing out the first two pitches instead. After confidently strolling out to the mound, Costas airmailed his first toss to the left side of the plate and A.J. Pierzynski couldn’t manage to make the grab.
Costas was clearly disappointed with himself and immediately asked for a second try, saying “I want another crack at it. That was my first wild pitch!” Fortunately for Bob, his request was obliged and he wound up delivering a strike on the second attempt.
