David Backes took this massive hit from Brent Seabrook towards the end of Game 2 in St. Louis on Saturday afternoon. The Blues forward was extremely shaken up by the hit, which earned Seabrook a game misconduct, and didn’t return to the game.
The hit could have huge implications for both teams, as it will be interesting to see how seriously injured Backes is and whether Seabrook will face supplemental discipline (and, if so, how much) from the league as a result of the hit.
UPDATE: Seabrook has been handed a three-game suspension from the NHL.
