It’s hard not to feel kind of bad for Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager here. He knew the pitch was awful and he had no chance of hitting it, but the hit-and-run call was on so he was pretty much forced to swing at it anyways, giving us this hilarious highlight.
It’s almost like you can see Seager’s thought process on the sequence: “okay, hit-and-run…gotta swing no matter what…here’s the pi- oh shit, there’s no way I can hit that…but coach is going to kill me if I don’t swing…damnit, here goes nothing.”
And to make matters worse, the runner got gunned out at second on the throw. Tough break, Kyle.
