Freshman Markus Burden, who will be attending Ball State for presumably the next four years, made his life a little easier financially by nailing a half-court shot this past week. Burden was selected randomly from the crowd to have the opportunity to hit the half-court shot and he took advantage by making his 4th attempt at the prize. Not sure why he got 4 attempts, but I digress…
According to the Indy Star:
“It was an overwhelming feeling,” said Burden, 18.
He didn’t play basketball for his high school team but often hit the court with friends, goofing around with half-court and trick shots.
Burden wanted to win the free tuition for his mom. But when he called her, almost in tears, she didn’t believe him until a friend sent her photographic proof.
“It just gives us a lot of breathing room right now,” he said.
