Sony has announced that, after 30 years, they will no longer manufacture the Walkman Cassette player. Upon hearing this news I had to ask the question, “Wait, what? They still make cassette Walkmans?”
Not anymore they don’t. Truth be told, I remember getting my first cassette walkman. It wasn’t small, often ate tapes and came with Steve Bartman headphones but good lord I loved that thing. It got me through many a family vacation and kept me entertained while I delivered newspapers and mowed lawns. RIP, old friend.
