Ty Lawson’s relationship with the Denver Nuggets hasn’t been great as of late. The Nuggets tried to trade Lawson back in February. Lawson responded in the offseason by telling a follower on Instagram that he wished he could be a Dallas Maverick.
So, when the Nuggets drafted point guard Emmanuel Mudiay with the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday, Lawson was understandably blunt about his future prospects in Denver on his own livestream of the draft, stating “I told you, I’m going to Sacramento bro.”
Sacramento is coached (at least at this very moment) by George Karl, who also coached Lawson on the Nuggets. Reports have recently suggested that Karl is interested in having Lawson on the Kings.
