Detroit Lions standout wide receiver Calvin Johnson AKA Megatron is definitely more than meets the eye. Toymaker Hasbro and Nike have teamed up to transform Johnson into a marketing machine for them with Transformer-themed sneakers. The two companies designed the Nike CJ81 Megatron Trainer Max sneakers for Megatron. These purple and red kicks come with a matching Megatron Decepticon action figure. No word on if the shoes are powered by the AllSpark, but they look flashy.
The action figure is part of a limited edition, three-shoe package and only 81 will be made. The package includes the Trainer Max, the Megatron Nike Air Trainer SC II and the Nike CJ81 Megatron Elite TD Cleat.
Johnson is jazzed about the inferno of new products:
Never thought that would happen. They are coming out with a little package or something like that. It’s going to be cool. It’s a cool little deal … I think kids will like it. I think everybody will like it. It’s cool shoes, plus you get a little toy.”
Now if only Johnson could transform the Lions into a winner.
