Cam Newton went back to his alma mater for the Auburn-Alabama men’s basketball game Wednesday night and had a little fun in the student section with his fellow War Eagles.
Newton was in the middle of the action, firing up the crowd and leading chants all night. He just may have been Auburn’s secret weapon, as they pulled out the 49-37 victory over their in-state rival.
Some of the Auburn players said they noticed how rowdy the crowd was and that gave them a little extra motivation. Auburn head coach Tony Barbee cracked a joke upon finding out Newton was in the crowd saying, “I wish I knew he was here. I would’ve put him in the game – he’s still got some eligibility left.”
Here’s some more footage of Newton pumping up the crowd in the student section.
