WNBA legend Diana Taurasi was not short on words for Caitlin Clark as she was preparing to enter the league as she warned the future rookie sensation that “reality is coming” when she entered the professional ranks. But ahead of her first matchup with Clark on Sunday, Taurasi had very little to say about Clark.
During an interview leading up to Sunday’s game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi was asked about the upcoming showdown with Clark, but she didn’t have a lot to say as he offered just a short and blunt response.
“Yeah, it’ll be fun,” Taurasi said.

Of course, this comes several months after Taurasi delivered a pretty stern warning to Clark during an interview with Scott Van Pelt back in April.
“Reality is coming,” Taurasi said back in April. “There’s levels to this thing. And that’s just life, we all went through it. You see it on the NBA side and you’re going to see it on this side, you look superhuman playing against 18 years olds but you’re going to come play with some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time.”
Clark, meanwhile, had some high praise for Taurasi ahead of their matchup as she revealed that Taurasi was one of her idols growing up.
“That’s somebody I grew up idolizing and looking up to and wanting to be like one day,” Clark said. “Obviously, she’s one of the greatest players our game has ever seen, greatest scorer our game has ever seen, so for me, I’m excited. It’s fun. It’s almost like a dream come true. You get to live out your dream while playing against the best, or one of the best there ever has been.”
We’ll have to see who comes out on top on Sunday afternoon.
