Last month, one of the biggest storylines in women’s college basketball was when Caitlin Clark was left off of Team USA ahead of this year’s Paris Olympic games. But Team USA head coach Cheryl Reeve – who also coaches the Minnesota Lynx – was not interested in talking about it during a press conference this week.
On Sunday, the Minnesota Lynx hosted Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in a game where Clark helped lead her team to an 81-74 victory thanks to 10 fourth-quarter points. It was a strong showing against the Team USA head coach, but it quickly became very clear that Cheryl Reeve had no intentions of discussing her potential future with the team at this moment.
When asked about Clark’s possible future with Team USA during the postgame press conference, Reeve flatly refused to answer the question.
“Why the [heck] would I answer a national team question?” Reeve said according to Myron Medcalf of ESPN. “I’m wearing Lynx. And I’m the head coach of the national team but I’m not the chair of the committee. Anybody want to venture into anything else?”
Needless to say, it sounds like she won’t be discussing Clark’s future on the team anytime in the near future.
