Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark may be one of the most prolific three-point shooters in the history of the sport, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’d be dominant in a three-point shooting contest.
Caitlin Clark was invited to take part in the three-point contest at this weekend’s WNBA All-Star game, but she declined in part because she was simply not prepared to participate in a challenge of that nature, even if she is a great in-game shooter.
“That’s not an easy thing to just show up to and just shoot off of a rack,” Clark said in a video shared by Chloe Peterson. “It’s not something I’ve ever done before. It’s not something I’ve had a lot of time to practice. I’ve been busy helping my team win games.”
But that wasn’t the main reason Clark turned down the invitation. The biggest reason, she explained, was that she simply wanted some time to rest.
“The biggest thing for me, I need a break. I need to take some time to myself and enjoy what I want to do,” she explained. “At times that can be tough given the position that I’m in, but I think it’s going to be healthiest for me too.”
We’ll have to see whether or not Clark decides to participate in a three-point contest at some point in the future.
