Former Iowa Hawkeyes stars Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin are now longer teammates after Clark was selected by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft while Martin went to the Las Vegas Aces. But it’s pretty clear that they still have a very strong bond even if they play on different teams.
After Monday’s practice for the Las Vegas Aces, Kate Martin was asked a little bit about her relationship with Caitlin Clark and she had some high praise for her former teammate and made it very clear that she is always there for her as a friend even if they’re on different teams.
“I don’t know if there’s too much I can do besides just be a friend, right? Being a listening ear, being there for her and being there for everyone,” Martin told FOX 5 Vegas. “Caitlin’s phenomenal, and she is having a great rookie season. I think people are really hard on her and expecting her to be perfect. That’s unrealistic, right? She’s a phenomenal person. She’s a phenomenal player. I’m going to support her through everything, right? She’s one of my best friends. I’m just there for her.”
Clearly, their bond extends well beyond basketball.
