On Thursday night, women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark made her home WNBA debut for the Indiana Fever against the New York Liberty, but it went about as badly as possible as Clark struggled to score and the Fever lost in an absolute blowout.
The Fever fell by a score of 102-66 on Thursday night as Caitlin Clark was held to just nine points, marking the first time since her freshman season of college that she has scored fewer than 10 points in a single game.
After the loss, Clark was not made available to the media. But before the game, she spoke to the media and admitted the brutal truth about just how difficult it has been to adjust to the WNBA game.
“The physicality is definitely up there. … I’m easily pushed off screens,” she said. “The game seems a little fast for me right now. The more I play and the more comfortable I get, it’s going to slow down a little bit. It will be easier for me to make reads, see things develop.”
We’ll have to see how Clark is able to improve as the season goes on, but it’s pretty clear that she is struggling a little bit right now.
