If you’re following this years Asian Games as closely as the crew here at Cosby Sweaters then you undoubtedly expected big things from the Yemeni men’s volleyball team and were stunned when they lost a big match to Indonesia. We now know just what went wrong in that match: cheerleaders. Seems the organizers of the games have looked to spice things up with four squads of cheerleaders to entertain the crowd during breaks in the action. Adeeb Mahfoudh from the Yemen team placed blame for the loss clearly at their scantily clad feet:
They had an effect on how we played. I think they had something to do with our losing the match.
Seems a little bit of this is more than the team could handle.
At the end of the day it seems the cheerleaders may have lost a match but gained a fan as Mr. Mahfoudh is taking the high ground on this one:
These girls are very beautiful. With them here, more people will pay attention to beach volleyball. If I can, I hope to watch them perform at the next match.
It’s a safe guess he’s not the only one looking forward to that.
