There are devastating losses, and then there’s what happened to this middle school basketball team in Kansas recently.
The Riley County Falcons took on the Rock Creek Mustangs in a battle of eighth grade squads on Monday and, in the game’s final moments, the Falcons led the Mustangs 26-25. Rock Creek had final possession with a chance to knock down a bucket to win the game, and then it happened.
A Mustangs player drove to the basket as the clock ticked down and put up a great shot. The ball banked off high glass and looked like it was going to to rattle around the rim and in, but then it came to a standstill…on back iron. The shot was counted as a miss and, with the clock at 0.0, the game was over.
As you can imagine, poor Rock Creek looked absolutely devastated.
