Robert “Tractor” Traylor was found dead today in his apartment in Isla Verde. The former Michigan start allegedly died from a massive heart attack. He was 34 years old. Robert has been playing in Puerto Rico with the Bayamon Cowboys and was selected as the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year of Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Robert Traylor’s team in Puerto Rico has confirmed his death.
A translation of the Vaqueros de Bayamón Facebook page reads:
“The center of the Bayamon Cowboys, Robert “Tractor” Traylor, was found dead in his apartment in Isla Verde. The game tonight between Mayaguez and the Cowboys was suspended …..”
Robert Traylor was a McDonalds All American the same year as Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter and Paul Pierce. He attended the University of Michigan where he was a standout with Maurice Taylor and Maceo Baston. He averaged a double double as a junior. He was also one of the Michigan players (including Chris Webber) whose relationship with booster Ed Martin led to many sanctions on the University of Michigan.
The Cowboys announced that today’s game against Mayagüez was suspended by the league at the request of Bayamon
