The Flotrack Beer Mile World Championships, where runners consume four beers while running around a track four times, is coming up on December 3rd but it will be surprising if Lance Armstrong shows up for the event.

Back in early November, Lance decided that he wanted to try and prepare for the run but he didn’t get very far. In fact, he couldn’t get past one lap according to the Texas Running Post. To be fair (and perhaps because he’s really learned his lesson this time around), Lance was trying to follow the rules to a tee and he didn’t try to fudge the spirit of the event by going with some light beer on his Beer Mile attempt.

“He drank Budweiser heavy from a 12oz can, no widemouth, following strict international Beer Mile standards. Perhaps his days with Michelob Ultra Lite put him at a disadvantage. He’s probably on his way to a gas station getting some Budweisers right now and practicing his chugging. He’s a competitor. I hope to see him out there again.”

Lance can still compete in the Beer Mile run since he didn’t fail a qualifier or anything like that. Hopefully, he’s been training his way up to Budweiser heavy because the race sounds rather challenging:

“The beer chugging is by far the hardest/worst part. One thing I learned in my first attempt is the need to purge the massive amount of carbonation that builds up in the gut while you run each lap,” said Jake Morse who finished in 7:45. “It’s a very fine line though because if you try to push the gas out too hard you run the risk of projectile vomiting. Thankfully I made it all four laps without booting and my dignity fully intact.”
