I’m not sure if I’m late to the ‘Headis’ knowledge train but I just found out about the creative German sport today and apparently it’s popular enough to have its own Wikipedia page. The premise is simple enough – it’s a hybrid of soccer and table tennis, using a regular ping pong table and a 7″ rubber ball you’re only allowed to hit with your head.
The video above features some of the best plays from a tournament in Germany earlier this year, and it’s pretty incredible to watch. Not only does the sport look pretty damn difficult, it also looks kind of dangerous. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to go a set without smashing my face off the table or spraining my neck, so props to these people for crushing it out there on the Headis streets. This would be a primetime ESPN 8: The Ocho selection.
