Google Offers launched in Portland today and is supposed to expand to New York and San Francisco later this summer. During an interview with Google Chairman Eric Schmidt last night at the D9 Conference, Schmidt alluded that Google Offers is part of the Google Wallet business plan as the company attempts to monetize its new payment system. Purchasers won’t need to bring coupons to the business but instead use their Android and NFC-capable phones.
Today’s first deal is $3 for $10 worth of drinks and pastries at Floyd’s Coffee.
