We’ve all been holding our breath for a while now, but it’s finally official: Facebook made a phone. Well actually, they made two.
The INQ Cloud Touch and INQ Cloud Q will be on sale within a few months in the UK and a bit later in the States. The INQ Mobile-designed cell phones are both pretty cheap (potentially as low as $50), with 2.6-inch touchscreens running on Android 2.2. Most of the typical smart phone goodies will be available — music player, Wi-Fi, 5-megapixel Camera, 4 MB of memory, etc. — but its selling point is that all the main Facebook features are available directly from the home screen. You can message, chat, wall post, or fulfill pretty much any other Facebook desire without opening a new window.
This isn’t a huge step considering the Facebook apps available for Android and the iPhone OS, but it does seem to be another attempt for Facebook to become the standard for all internet messaging, chatting and photo sharing. I don’t see anyone really ditching their Blackberry, iPhone or Droid for this one, but it looks like any teen’s dream upgrade from a Nokia.
