There were many interesting moments throughout the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden on Thursday night. But the topic that most sports fans quickly took notice of was a challenge from Biden to Trump relating to golf.

Trump’s relationship with golf is quite extensive, as he owns multiple prestigious golf courses that both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have played on in the past.

However, Biden seemingly believes that his golf game stacks up quite favorably to his presidential hopeful counterpart. During the debate, he challenged Trump to both a long-drive contest and a straight-up golf match against him.

“You can see he is 6-foot-3” and all of 235 pounds,” said Biden. “Just take a look at what he says he is. Look, I would be happy to have a driving contest with him. I got my handicap down to a six. By the way, I told you before I’m happy to play golf with you if you carry your own bag. You think you can do it?”

Trump immediately pushed back against Biden’s claim of his handicap.

“That’s the biggest lie that he is a six handicap,” said Trump. “Of all… I’ve seen your swing, I know your swing.”

The odds of golf fans actually seeing a match to settle this debate between Trump and Biden are obviously quite unlikely. But golf fans can at least hope that maybe someday we see these two out on the golf course together going head to head.
