In 2022, Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker challenged incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock for one of Georgia’s Senate seats. He ultimately failed, losing the election to Warnock after a series of embarrassing scandals and revelations, but he still has a lot of money left over from his campaign – and Republicans are furious that he doesn’t seem to be sharing it.
According to a report from Politico, Herschel Walker still has over $4 million remaining in unused campaign funds from his failed Senate campaign. However, he seemingly has no intention of using it to help the GOP or to support Donald Trump in the key battleground state even though Politico describes the Georgia GOP as “in dire need of money” and “nearly broke.”
Needless to say, Republicans are furious with Walker.
“Those resources were solicited and given to support his candidacy as a Georgia Republican, and unless he intends to use them again for his own candidacy, I sure hope the favor would be returned,” said John Watson, a former Georgia state GOP chair, according to Politico. “Georgia Republicans should be supported by those dollars in whatever legal fashion the campaign can.”
Walker has largely disappeared from the public eye since losing the election in 2022, but it sounds like the GOP would sure like access to those funds.
