Former United States President Donald Trump has made a habit of criticizing political opponent Joe Biden for his mental lapses and apparent declining cognitive ability. But in a pretty horrible turn of events, it was Trump who had a pretty glaring mental lapse this week.
During a recent rally in New Jersey, Donald Trump tried to reference former United States President Jimmy Carter during his speech, but due to an apparent mental lapse, he seemed to confuse him with tennis legend Jimmy Connors, who was the top tennis player in the world during the 70s.
“Jimmy Connors is — He’s also happy. Jimmy is a very happy man. Both of them because, you know what, they want him out. Jimmy Connors had a bad reputation. Right now, he is considered a totally brilliant president by comparison (to Joe Biden). Right now he is a totally brilliant president by comparison,” Trump said according to Newsweek.
Obviously, it’s pretty horrible to see a mental lapse like this from the Republican frontrunner who could be the next president of the United States, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

My grandmother was stricken with dementia, and she made the Jimmy Connors mistake all the time, along with calling Reagan “Ronald Colman.” https://t.co/P5YOPexiXd

It is certainly not a good look for the former president.
