The Kansas City Chiefs clinched their second consecutive Super Bowl championship on Sunday night when the team was able to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. And after the big win, they got a big congratulations from former United States President Barack Obama.
Following the team’s win over the Niners, Barack Obama offered his praise for what the team accomplished, congratulating head coach Andy Reid and a handful of players individually, saying they showed “grace under pressure.”
“Congrats to the Kansas City @Chiefs, MVP Patrick Mahomes, Coach Reid, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Mecole Hardman, and the rest of the champs for another Lombardi Trophy. Grace under pressure,” Obama said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obama has been a notorious sports fan throughout his life, including during his presidency. Though his allegiance is mostly to Chicago teams as a longtime native of the city, he is also a sports fan generally and appreciates many teams and athletes outside of his favorite teams as well.
While he was president, Obama rarely wasted an opportunity to congratulate champion teams and athletes, and he’s not wasting an opportunity now that he’s out of office, either.
