Milan Lucic is back in hockey headlines again this week following an incident with Alexei Emelin during Game 3 in Montreal on Tuesday night. Lucic is being accused of spearing the Canadiens forward in the stomach during the third period of the Habs’ win, and you can see a GIF of the incident above.
It’s the second (documented) time this postseason that Lucic has speared an opponent, first catching Danny Dekeyser in the groin during the opening round. This latest incident doesn’t seem nearly as bad as the previous ones (and it went undetected during the game) but the Canadiens front office is reportedly “fuming” over it. Then again, Montreal tends to overreact sometimes, especially in incidents that involve the Bruins.
This isn’t even the first time Lucic has speared Emelin this season. After the Habs forward delivered a big, open-ice hip check on Lucic during the regular season, the Bruins winger delivered a cup-check behind the play. After the game, Lucic called Emelin a “chicken” for the big (clean) hit.
