After being traded by the Buffalo Sabres in a blockbuster deal last Friday, Ryan Miller made his debut for the St. Louis Blues with a 23-save effort in a 4-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday night.
Immediately after the game’s final buzzer, Miller unexpectedly became aware of a tradition held by one of his new teammates, Jay Bouwmeester: He likes to punch his netminders right in the mask after a win.
Bouwmeester delivered an inaugural jab last night to kick off Miller’s tenure in St. Louis, and the goalie seemed quite hilariously surprised at the gesture.
But, to be fair, Miller hasn’t gotten used to any sort of victory celebration in Buffalo recently.
