Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows took a Johan Franzen skate to the face during Sunday’s game in Detroit, opening up a cut just under his eye.
The two players were involved in a collision just in front of the Canucks net during the second period, causing Franzen to fall and catch Burrows under his visor. Burrows brought a hand to his face immediately, wiping away a good amount of blood before heading to the locker room for repairs.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first skate-to-the-face incident we’ve seen this season. In fact, it seems to be happening more often than usual this year and we’re only a few months into the season. Hopefully it’s not a trend that continues.
