June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month around the country, and the Washington Commanders wasted no time in beginning their celebration over the weekend.
On Saturday morning – the first day of Pride Month – the Washington Commanders changed their logo on social media to a Rainbow version of the logo in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. The team also announced plans for a special Pride Month parade and festival.
“Love wins,” the Commanders official account said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Come out for the [Capital Pride] Parade & Festival on June 8-9 to celebrate #Pride2024!” the Commanders continued in the post.
The post also included what appears to be a poster for the Pride Parad and Festival, featuring a personified cartoon football with a smiling face and arms carrying a rainbow LGBTQ Pride flag with the motto “Football is For Everyone” at the top.
As usual, there will undoubtedly be many professional sports teams around the country that choose to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with events and promotions this month. In fact, all but one Major League Baseball team – the Texas Rangers – have events planned to at least acknowledge Pride Month throughout this month.
